This Amish Cinnamon Bread Recipe is a sweet, moist loaf with a swirl of cinnamon sugar in every bite. No yeast required, making it a quick and easy classic bake perfect for breakfast, snacking, or dessert, all year round!
Ingredients
For the Bread:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk (or substitute with milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Swirl:
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix sugar, buttermilk, oil, egg, and vanilla until well combined.

Add wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir just until combined—do not overmix.

In a small bowl, mix the ⅓ cup sugar and cinnamon.

Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle with half the cinnamon sugar. Add remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon sugar.

Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter.

Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
